Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy
The safety and welfare of every child in our care is central to everything we do. This policy applies to all GradeSmart staff and volunteers.
Purpose and scope
GradeSmart Tuition provides in-person and online tuition to school-age children. This policy sets out our commitment to protecting them, applies to everyone who works with us, and gives particular attention to the needs of vulnerable children.
Legal framework
Our procedures follow the UK legislation and statutory guidance governing child protection across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Our safeguarding principles
- All children deserve protection from harm.
- The welfare of the child is paramount.
- Some children are additionally vulnerable and need additional safeguards.
What we do
- All tutors are DBS-checked before working with students.
- Staff receive safeguarding training and know how to recognise and report concerns.
- Safe recruitment practices apply to every appointment.
- Clear professional boundaries govern tutor–student communication.
- Arrival and collection procedures keep in-person sessions safe.
- Concerns are recorded, acted on promptly, and escalated where necessary.
Designated Safeguarding Lead
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Temmar Ghani. Safeguarding concerns should be reported to the DSL without delay. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
Monitoring and review
This policy is reviewed annually, and sooner if legislation or our organisation changes.
