Behaviour Policy

Behaviour Policy

At GradeSmart Tuition, we aim to create a positive, calm and productive learning environment where all students feel safe, respected and able to learn. This policy outlines the behaviour expectations we uphold across all lessons, both online and in person.

Our goal is to ensure that every tutor can teach effectively and every student can learn without disruption. This policy also acts as a guide for parents and students, helping everyone understand our shared expectations.

Aims of This Policy

Our Behaviour Policy is designed to:

• Promote a safe, caring and supportive learning environment

• Encourage students to take pride in their work and behaviour

• Support tutors in maintaining respectful and focused lessons

• Build confidence, independence and responsibility as students grow

• Prevent inappropriate behaviour, including bullying, and ensure all incidents are handled fairly and consistently

Responsibilities

Creating a positive learning environment is a shared responsibility. Tutors, students and parents work together by:

• Providing a calm and well-organised learning environment

• Treating others with respect, kindness and understanding

• Building positive relationships and a sense of belonging

• Encouraging and reinforcing good behaviour and effort

• Rejecting all forms of bullying, harassment or discrimination

• Supporting strategies that reduce disruptive behaviour

• Taking pride in the learning space and resources

• Working collaboratively and showing mutual support

What Good Behaviour Looks Like

Students should understand what is expected of them when they join GradeSmart Tuition. We also ensure parents are aware of our expectations.

Good behaviour includes:

In the Learning Environment:

• Being polite, using phrases like “please” and “thank you”

• Keeping their workspace tidy

• Moving around calmly and respectfully (for in-person sessions)

In Lessons:

• Listening when the tutor is speaking

• Not interrupting tutors or other students

• Remaining quiet when requested by the tutor

• Showing respect to adults and other students

• Taking responsibility for their actions and choices

• Looking after their personal belongings

• Knowing what is appropriate to bring to lessons (no distracting items)

Our Behaviour Approach

We believe behaviour is best supported through consistency, respect and positive relationships. Our approach includes:

• Recognising effort, progress and positive conduct

• Encouraging intrinsic motivation rather than using rewards or punishments

• Allowing every student a fresh start each lesson

• Addressing issues calmly, fairly and privately wherever possible

• Involving parents when behaviour needs additional support

• Ensuring any safeguarding concerns are escalated through our Safeguarding Policy

We aim to help students become confident, responsible and self-aware learners.
